The latest economic data suggests that the U.S. economy is on the road to a sustained recovery.

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index for the U.S. increased sharply by 1.0% in December following a 1.1% increase in November and a 0.4% increase in October. Even more encouraging is the fact that private sector GDP growth which stalled from mid-2009 to mid-2010 began to re-accelerate in the 2nd half of 2010. This suggests that a self-sustained U.S. private sector recovery has taken hold.
